Chinese tech giant Alibaba has unveiled Qwen3, a family of AI models that outperform the best from Google and OpenAI in most areas.

What is known about Qwen3

The secret of Qwen3 is its ability to adapt to the request. When you ask a simple question, the answer comes instantly – the system does not waste unnecessary resources. But as soon as you set a complex task, the AI switches to deep analysis mode. It literally “thinks through” the solution, checking it several times before giving a final answer. This resembles the work of an experienced specialist who knows when to answer right away and when to take a break to think.

The peculiarity of the Chinese development is “training” on unique data, mainly of Asian origin. Its “memory” includes not only standard Chinese, but also rare dialects, local cultural features, and the specifics of Asian business communication. This makes the system especially valuable for the regional market.

The technical side deserves special attention. Qwen3 has 128 highly specialized modules (Mixture of Experts technology). Each one is like a separate expert in its field. This architecture allows the system to save up to 30% of computing resources compared to traditional models.

In practice, Qwen3 has already proven its effectiveness. In the financial sphere, it makes a quarter fewer mistakes than its competitors. When analyzing legal documents, its accuracy is twice as high. But most importantly, it understands the local context in a way that no Western analogue can. However, in creative tasks, especially in English, the system is still inferior to the recognized leaders.

According to the developers, the appearance of Qwen3 is a signal to the whole world. China is no longer catching up – it is creating its own technologies. Alibaba did not simply copy Western developments, but offered a fundamentally different solution.

Qwen3 is now actively used in China. Banks use it to assess risks, government agencies use it to process documents, and educational institutions use it to create individual educational programs. At the same time, the company is not aiming for the Western market, focusing on its home region.

Basic versions of the model can be freely downloaded from GitHub, the full version is currently available only to developers and corporate clients.
